Over the weekend, the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. The dogs loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog (Calypso) decided the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn’t acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Halfway through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly.

Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company’s web site,

This product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats.

Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey’s, and they claim that “It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won’t eat it.”

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman’s Garden Supply and other garden supply stores contains a lethal ingredient called ‘Theobromine’. It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks.

Theobromine is in all chocolate, especially dark or baker’s chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

hey okay. we’re here at this point in the discussion. cool. i’m glad we’re here now because this is where my post comes in. The call of duty series prides itself on realism: but its concept of realistic is entirely constructed fantasy by a bunch of guys who are really really into tactilol military fetishism. here’s how i’ve come to that conclusion, literally nothing about the game in its portrayal of warfare, it’s plot, and its character development is realistic at fucking all. If we are to take the series as a whole, which it is based on how it’s branded, the plot alone is so far into a literal fantasy story that the argument that there’s no woman in it because it’s true realism to military patriarchy is farty idiotic as heck because, as my original post illustrates, this is a game where you literally pull a knife out of your chest in the middle of a desert after falling off a waterfall to kill a general who bought a russian nationalist to commit war crimes to cause a never ending cold war.

this is the game you are talking about in terms of realism. a game where a man was programmed by u.s. numbers stations to commit warcrimes in vietnam and then assassinate jfk. a game where a cuban man literally hacks the planet for shit that happened in the bay of pigs like 60 years before. there’s no actual realism there whatsoever.

I don’t play it and I really don’t care about the plotlines or the hypermacho testosterone-fueled wet dreams in it.

The basis is military. If it was about the Air Force I would be the first one to call them out for having no women. But it’s Spec Ops, which has no women. Looking at it in terms of a story, that makes the setting realistic and the events unrealistic. Welcome to every video game known to man.

They use dogs in Spec Ops. So there is a playable dog character. If you want to get upset about something, there are bigger fish to fry. Go after Dead Island for the skill called “Feminist Whore.” There is no further pursuit to be made against Spec Ops for this particular issue. It’s military. This is the state of our military—where men are told be to be fucking uber bastards and women are kept off the frontlines. That’s an issue with the military. So go after the military for it, not a single game that mirrors one problem in it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: To say that masculine gay men must have internalized homophobia is itself painfully homophobic; it implies that gay men are naturally more feminine than straight men, and to act otherwise would be to defy one’s true nature. While there is nothing wrong with being a feminine gay man, to assume that one gender expression is natural and the norm is wrong. If you are a gay man and believe this, you are not helping yourself. If you are not a gay man and you believe this, you are a shit ally and you need to stop. It’s not wrong for us to struggle against stereotypes, and one way for us to do that is to have the more masculine ones among us also point out that they exist. By showing that there is variety in our community, we allow ourselves to be seen as not just a cliche but actual humans by the world at large; not just the masculine ones, but all of us by virtue of the fact that now people know that they have to pay some fucking attention to actually know what we’re like before resorting to a tired cliche. “Maybe this guy likes drag and boxing! Maybe this one likes old cars and Cher. Maybe it’s he’s more feminine, maybe he’s more masculine, maybe it’s a mix, LET’S FIND OUT”

By the way, about the misogyny thing - and again, I’ve covered this before so sorry for people who follow me and have to see this again - labeling a lack of feminine traits and a desire to let it be known misogynistic is not only stupid but potentially damaging, because like the homophobia accusation you’re connecting the quality of enjoying stereotypically feminine pursuits with womanhood in and of itself. This is also wrong, as it reinforces gender roles. And nobody should be stuck in a gender role because that sucks ass.

By the way, I actually took a look at this subreddit and tried to find anything devious about it - maybe something condemning feminine gay men in there or something in the official rules and such.

Rreblogging for that quote. Guys or girls. There’s a time and place for nudity or exposure, and when I’m out trying to do my shopping or getting lunch, I really don’t need to see a guy walking around with mini shorts and his junk bulging out, or a girl covering the bare minimum. The creepiest part is that it’s usually little girls doing it, 10-15 years old. It’s a bit disgusting looking at girls who have not hit puberty and seeing them wearing shorts that are so short, you can almost see their genitalia, but their age or sex doesn’t matter. What are the parents thinking when they allow their kid to walk out of the house with shorts as small as underwear, and them wearing a top that resembles a bra. I don’t often see guys exposing themselves in public, like at the shops, which is why I couldn’t make many comments about that. It’s usually girls. That’s not sexism, that’s what I have seen.

Let me make a little my two cents on it. For the most part I agree with the basis of your argument but I disagree with the way the actual graphic portrays them.

The basis of a slut is devaluing oneself by defining oneself by the sexual gratification potential of their bodies. In my opinion, anyway. Is there such a thing as a slut? Yes. Does it make you a slut to have sex with all the people you want? No. It makes you a slut to define yourself by that and make no other attempts to further yourself in any other parts of your life. It’s like addiction. You’re an alcoholic if all you think about is alcohol to the point where you let yourself as a person lose value to society because of it.

Not wearing enough clothes doesn’t make you a slut—but that doesn’t mean it’s totally a-okay to go around with your cooch hanging out in perfectly public places. If/when we legalise female toplessness in public, more power to you, but the point is that a woman is able to do that without being sexualised. If she sexualises herself, on purpose, that is offensive to me because I don’t want to see her in a slinky top with a V-neck that barely hides her nipples and is see-through to her leopard print push-up bra. You’re allowed to be proud of your body without shoving it in other people’s faces. That’s the entire point. Your body is fine without seeking all of the attention in unacceptable places.

I consider it just the same when men wear pants around their knees or a big arrow on their shirt pointing to their crotch. Time and place. Sure, be proud of your body. But don’t make me look. I genuinely don’t want to see it. The body doesn’t have to be a sexual thing, but if it’s being advertised sexually, that’s how it will be perceived.
