There were no sex classes. No friendship classes. No classes on how to navigate a bureaucracy, build an organization, raise money, create a database, buy a house, love a child, spot a scam, talk someone out of suicide, or figure out what was important to me. Not knowing how to do these things is what messes people up in life, not whether they know algebra or can analyze literature.

There’s a problem with a society when the problem with a school system is that we need these.

Florida Teen Expelled, Charged With Felony For Lesbian Relationship

queernewsnetwork:

This is absolutely disgusting. The fact that things like this happen in 2013 is frustrating, and I quite frankly cannot stand the idea.

A Florida family says their 18-year-old daughter was charged with a felony and expelled from high school as a result of a consensual, same-sex relationship with another student.

Kaitlyn Hunt started dating a female classmate at the beginning of the school year when she was 17 and the girl she was dating was 15. According to an account posted to Facebook by Kaitlyn’s mother, in February, just after Kaitlyn turned 18, she was arrested on felony charges at the behest of her girlfriend’s parents. The specific crime was “sexual battery on a person 12-16 years old.”

Kaitlyn’s mother believes the charges were motivated by anti-gay animus:

They were out to destroy my daughter, they feel like my daughter “made” their daughter gay. They are bigoted, religious zeolites [sic] that see being gay as a sin and wrong, and they blame my daughter.

But Kaitlyn’s problems did not end there. Her girlfriends’s parents appealed to the school board and had her expelled from Sebastian River High School. Kaitlyn’s mom reports that the State Attorney, Brian Workman, has offered Kaitlyn a plea deal of “of two years house arrest and one year probation.” Kaitlyn has until next Friday to accept the plea deal or face a trial.

The family has started a petition calling on the state attorney to drop the charges against Kaitlyn.

As much as I detest the motive for going after this girl, I kind of also just am like, “You know, that’s why you have to think.” To be blunt, a two-year gap at that age is a huge one. They chose to have sex between a 15 and a 17-year old. In my state, she could be charged with statutory rape because of the age difference.

Just because you stand for something that’s fine doesn’t make you exempt from the actual law. Does it deserve what she got? No, but that’s all completely legal with the understanding that her girlfriend was fifteen and she was seventeen. She made the decision to have sex with a girl at that age—and she’s facing the consequences. It’s exactly how it would have been had she been a guy and this a heterosexual couple.

if you do not feel comforted or empowered by queer headcanons, i’m sorry to hear that and i hope you can find inspiration elsewhere. but for many people- the majority of them queer themselves- headcanoning, interpreting, or depicting their favorite characters as queer is how they express themselves and find comfort and positivity in fandoms. and that is something that absolutely deserves to be respected and protected from people that would ruin it for them.

The problem that a lot of people have is when people glorify or fetishize these headcanons. There’s nothing wrong with having these headcanons; I have a few myself. The issue is when people A) begin telling off others who don’t share these headcanons; and, mainly, B) when the characters’ personalities and values are then weighed based on their “queerness” and they are butchered just to allow for this headcanon, which is not actually adding to a character, it is glorifying and putting on a pedestal this queerness. And frankly, when talking about things like being born with the wrong body, that’s not something to glorify.

I am a transman. I have headcanons for characters being queer where they aren’t addressed in canon. For instance (this one’ll be unpopular) I consider Rokudou Mukuro genderqueer. There, I said it. I’m being honest here.

On the other hand, people that say Dean Winchester is FTM are out of the ballpark because they are explicitly denying canon. The point of most of these headcanons is to completely squash what we know about Dean and to turn him into a sideshow.

Making headcanons about queerness is fine. But if it’s not addressed in canon, then it’s not a prevalent enough feature about the character for you to begin defining them by that particular feature.

If you take solace in defining a character by that for the sake of relating to them yourself, just recognise that you’re doing it for just that, and it’s not canon, and it’s not bad for people to point out that it doesn’t work in a serious roleplay/fic/etc. It’s an alteration of canon, not gap-filling. You’re welcome to have it, but don’t go around putting down other people for respecting the canon more.

just because their rules are slightly less backwards does not make them any less crazy. its an attention seekers religion. leVayen satanism(which is where these rules come from) was invented last centuary as a way for someone to exploit people. its got almost nothing to do with the traditional idea of satan and you will often hear a satanist state “but thats not what our satanism is about, its just a name” THEN PICK A DIFFERENT FUCKING NAME! you could have used fucking sauron and had more credability. the only reason to use that name is to make the religion more marketable. i am less annoyed by actual ancient religions because at least they have had the passage of time to ingrain them in culture, but people that believe in satanism and wicca, these are 20th century faiths, they are invented as platforms to manipulate you and are no better than scientology in my book.while i think all religion is bullshit, i would be far less bothered by theistic satanism, that is the belief in the abrahamic satan, and the worship of him as the advaseriy. at least then you have your fog of ages to protect your lie.these modern faiths, unless you’ve been born into them, why do you believe them? this is the 21st century, you are probably a reasonably intellegent person, this stuff is just fairy tales. it was created so someone in the mid 20th could feel special and at like a shaman to people, so they could manipulate them. and now you believe their lie. you allow it to grow.

If you look at anything about LaVeyan Satanism, you’d notice it’s not so much of a religion (which entails worship) as it is a lifestyle.

Unlike Theistic Satanism, LaVeyan Satanism does not involve the literal worship of any being other than the self, but rather uses “Satan” as a symbol of carnality and earthly values, of man’s inherent nature, and of a cosmos which Satanists perceive to be permeated and motivated by a force that has been given many names by man over the course of time.

As you can see, this is why the word “Satanism” is used. Does it create problems? Yes. Do people bandy about the word looking for attention? Yes. But in its base, LaVeyan Satanism comes from exactly what these “Rules” entail.
As for the whole “you’re allowing lies to grow” bull, I won’t even touch that. That’s your personal opinion. But since you asked about actual facts, there you go.
